2007 BRANCH CONFERENCE

The 2007 Branch conference held in Bendigo on Saturday 31st March, was well attended by branch representatives from all over Victoria.

The day long conference hosted by the Bendigo Branch of the Trust, was addressed by Trust Chairman Dr Graeme Blackman who reaffirmed the Trust's commitment to its membership and the importance of Branches to the future of the organisation.

Trust CEO Martin Purslow committed to ensure that the relationship between branches and the National Trust, which was at the core of the Trust's community origins, would be strengthened. He promised to develop a formal agreement between the Trust and Branches to recognise this strong relationship and to define the important role which branch members play in assisting Trust advocacy and promoting local cultural heritage planning issues on behalf of the National Trust and local communities.

Delegates discussed a range of issues that the Trust faces in its continuing mission to promote the conservation and creative reuse of heritage sites.
