PLANNING YOUR VISIT
Planning Your Visit - A step by step guide to visiting the Russell Street Melbourne Justice Museum.
Please call the Bookings Officer with questions at any time.
Booking
1. Decide which part of the Old Melbourne Gaol, Crime and Justice Experience you would like to visit: The Old Melbourne Gaol, The Former Magistrates' Court, The Former City Watch House or a combination of these.
2. If you are visiting the Old Melbourne Gaol, or taking part in a Courtroom Drama, choose which case or tour you would like.
3. Choose your preference from a list of times available for all three programs from the booking form.
4. Email, fax or call our Bookings Officer with preferred dates/times to check availability and to discuss your individual Justice Museum experience.
5. Download or print the booking form. Fill in and send back to us by fax (03) 9639 0119 or e-mail to omg@nattrust.com.au.
The form requires the following information:
- Name of school
- Address and contact phone number
- Email address
- Name of the teacher in charge of the group
- Number of students and year level
- Type of Tour/ Courtroom Drama

6. Once the form has been submitted to the bookings officer, your booking will be confirmed by fax or email or you will be contacted by the bookings officer to negotiate alternative dates/times.
Before Your Visit
1. Pre-visit activities have been developed to enable your students to gain the most out of their experience. Notes for Teaching and Learning will be sent with your confirmation.
2. Payment- Payments to be made on the day to the Front desk when you arrive.
During Your Visit
3. Students should meet at the Front entrance of the Old Melbourne Gaol before the visit is due to commence.
4. Cameras are permitted
5. Books and souvenirs are available for purchase
6. Bags must be stored at the entrance to the Old Melbourne Gaol
7. If you or your students have a special focus that has not been addressed in the booking process, please mention this to your CAJE facilitator. We will attempt to tailor your experience so that it is relevant to your interest or focus.
8. Students remain the responsibility of their teachers at all times.
9. It is important that students move respectfully throughout the property and are asked not to run around. Noise and shouting should be discouraged as it interferes with other visitors and their own experience at the Museum.
