GULF STATION CELEBRATES AUSTRALIA DAY 2008

On Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 January, Gulf Station celebrated the Australia Day Weekend Festival 2008.
Special guests at the festival were Mr Robert D. McCallum, Ambassador of the United States of America to Australia, and his wife Mimi (pictured above along with National Trust CEO Martin Purslow and Gulf Station Property Team Leader Clemens Unger) who were given the grand tour of the property and watched the many demonstrations that took place at the event such as Sheep Shearing. Mr McCallum also visited Como Historic House and Garden on the Australia Day weekend to partake in the activities at this Trust property as well.

The weekend provided a fun-filled festival for the whole family to enjoy. From live stage entertainment by Wiggles friends Wags the Dog and Captain Feathersword, to a huge range of pioneer displays, craft stalls, food vendors and more. Helicopter rides showcasing the scenic Yarra Valley were provided by Sunrise Helicopters, and Camp Australia provided fun and excitement for the kids including face-painting, kids karaoke, art and craft activities and more.
The National Trust of Australia (Victoria) would also like to thank the team of volunteers whose dedication and hard work assisted in making this event a huge success.
Preparations are now in place for the next event at Gulf Station, Empire Day to take place on 17 May 2008.
