NATIONAL TRUST ANNUAL GENREAL METTING 2007

The 51st Annual General Meeting of the Victorian branch of the National Trust was held on Saturday 24th November at the former Melbourne Magistrate’s Court, part of the Old Melbourne Gaol, Crime and Justice Experience complex. Although the event coincided with the General Election, it was attended by many members, who were able to sit in the body of the court, while being addressed by National Trust Chairman, Dr Graeme Blackman, from the Bar table and the C.E.O., Martin Purslow, from the dock. The Board of Directors and the auditors from K.P.M.G. also attended the A.G.M.
Dr Blackman discussed the activities of the Trust during the year and the strategy for the future with particular emphasis on environmental awareness and maintaining sustainable operations for the Trust. Mr Purslow reviewed the operations and projects completed in further detail and noted the number of challenges arising for the year ahead.

At the conclusion of the presentations, Dr Blackman accepted the Victorian Tourism Award for Outstanding Contribution by Volunteers won by the National Trust and Mrs Liz Cunningham was nominated as an honorary life member of the National Trust, for her outstanding work with the Women’s Group of volunteers. Members were then able to take advantage of the opportunity to tour the Old Melbourne Gaol and the Watch House, as part of the successful Crime and Justice Experience.
