Bequests and Legacies

The National Trust launched its new bequest program in 2006, as part of the Trust's 50th Anniversary celebrations. Revenue from bequests and legacies will underpin the financial security of the National Trust during the next 50 years and beyond. The program will play a major role in the future of the Trust.

All those who promise to leave a bequest to the National Trust become members of our bequestors' group, the National Trust Circle. The Circle will host special events and activities each year to enable bequestors to maintain an involvement with the Trust.

Any person who joins our bequest program during 2006 will become a Founding Member of the National Trust Circle.

All bequests and legacies received by the Trust are allocated to building a capital fund for future conservation needs at our historic properties.

Donations

Funds raised from our annual letter of appeal to members form an important part of the National Trust's yearly income and enable major restoration projects to be undertaken at our properties.

The National Trust has a number of corporate supporters and we are grateful for their generous cash and in-kind assistance.
