Corio Villa has an interesting history. The crates arrived at the Cunningham pier in 1855 containing the pre-fabricated buildings. With apparently no indication of a name or consignee, Alfred Douglas purchased the relics from the Port Authority for a small sum and erected the house on its current location overlooking Corio Bay. Historically ‘Corio Villa’ is of considerable interest, its significance is incalculable as it is by far the most ornate and splendid prefabricated house in Australia and possibly the world. ‘Corio Villa’ sits high on the top of Eastern Beach, the home has expansive views across the bay to the You Yangs. Come and stay, wander in the tranquil settings of this gracious old home, shaded by the spreading oak, elm, jacaranda and walnut trees of ‘Corio Villa’.
