Travelling interstate or overseas?

Join the National Trust before you depart on your overseas holiday and take your membership card with you. As a National Trust member you have access to some of the world's outstanding historic sites through the Australian National Trust Reciprical Rights Program. Over 500 properties worldwide in 20 member countries can be visited free of charge. What is the National Trust and what does it do?

The National Trust is a member based charity working to protect and preserve Australia’s built and natural heritage. It owns, manages and maintains heritage properties, conducts campaigns and supports local groups in their endeavour to protect local heritage, identifies and classifies places of heritage significance and undertakes educational and awareness programs.

Is it Government sponsored?

No. It is a member based charity deriving its income from membership subscriptions, property admission fees, donations, sponsorship and grants.

Who can join the National Trust?

Membership of the Trust is open to all members of the public.

Can someone living interstate or overseas join the Victorian National Trust?

Yes. The benefit of free entry into National Trust properties world wide applies regardless of the origin of your membership. You will receive the newsletter of Victorian National Trust.

Is membership transferable between states?

Yes. Contact the head office of your home state and they will effect the transfer.

What does reciprocal rights mean?

All National Trusts world wide have agreed to give local and overseas National Trust members free entry into their properties.

Do members ever have to pay to go to a National Trust property?

If there is a special fundraising event at the property, members may be asked to pay a concession entry fee.

Is membership transferable?

Only the member/members nominated on the card are eligible to use it.
