Melbourne's finest early bluestone church, and one of the few surviving buildings attributed to James Blackburn Jnr., begun in 1853 and extended by Leonard Terry (1865) and Charles Webb (1876). The church is an elaborate and well-developed example of the Early English style, including an impressive broach spire to the north-west and five large lancet windows at the west end.
