About the Trust Register and Database |
||
|
This database contains over 10,000 records. While every effort has been taken to ensure the accuracy of the transcriptions, there may be a small percentage of errors. Researchers are encouraged to contact the National Trust Information Officer to check the paper files. For each entry the Trust has a paper file, held at the Trust's headquarters at 4 Parliament Place, East Melbourne 3004. These files may be accessed for a fee. No fee is charged for Trust members. The National Trust Database includes the name, address, file number and a photo if available and appropriate of all places and objects, including trees and landscapes, for which the Trust maintains a numbered file. Places noted as 'file only' are not classified and only a paper file exists. To view a file an appointment must be made with the Information Services Officer on (03) 9656 9818 |

Nomination Checklist: |
Please check whether the place is already protected by other organisations. It may be listed by Heritage Victoria, the State Government body. Its listings are available at www.heritage.vic.gov.au. It may be protected by a Heritage Overlay control, imposed by the local council. Call the planning department of the local council to make inquiries. Remember that classification by the Trust does not guarantee its survival, as we are community-based lobby group, not part of government. You should also lobby the local council to ensure further action. If you believe the place to be of State level significance, you should consider nominating to Heritage Victoria. |

Help Us Improve the Register: |
We need assistance from you in improving the Register and identifying images of properties from our files that have incomplete records. We want to improve our records and knowledge of these buildings, and we need your assistance. If you have any information about a property shown on our Flickr website please email us at conservation@nattrust.com.au with details, quoting the number of the image. The images of the unidentified places are stored on Flickr, a photo file-sharing website that gives people access to image collections.
